Gardai in Athy are investigating two savage assaults in the town over the weekend which left one man hospitalised following an assault with a broken bottle.
In a weekend of violence, the town was hit with two separate attacks as gardaí were called to deal with Saturday night incidents.

The father of a young Co Kildare teacher who died when her car was struck in a head-on collision, blasted the legal system this week, which he says failed his child.
“There has been no justice for my girl. I didn’t want someone to be sent away for life, I just wanted someone to be responsible for her death. Now we have to live with that court result for the rest of our lives. Our family is broken and our hearts are in pieces,” a heartbroken Charlie O’Connor told the Kildare Post this week.
