Kildare’s You’re A Star hopeful, Sharon Condon had a perfect start to her competition campaign with full and unanimous praise from all the judges following her first performance at the weekend.
The county Kildare native wooed both the voting public and the panel of celebrity judges with her performance on Sunday.
Speaking to the Kildare Post this week, Sharon said she was ‘overwhelmed and delighted’ to have made it through the first round of live voting.
“I am in it, to win it no doubt. I have spend the last year gigging and that has given me a lot more confidence, I’m ready for this,” she predicted.
Sharon who hails from Donadea near Naas says she is relying on the Lilywhite vote to help her through.
“I need all the support I can get. I have to keep the campaign going, I need Kildare behind me. I hope to keep up my campaign in the weeks ahead,” she added. Sharon is planning a tour of local schools over the next couple of weeks following her appearance at the Curragh National School last week.
“It was great and I’m hoping to visit schools in Naas and Newbridge over the next while.”
While Sharon shined on the RTE stage, Kildare’s other hopeful Polish singer and Naas resident Peter Karpienia was given the boot.
“I feel sorry for Peter. He is so talented and didn’t deserve to go. I didn’t like what happened to him. I think it was because he didn’t have the backing or the family in the country that the rest of us have,” Sharon suggested.
“But he’ll do well for himself anyway, he is a great musician,” she said.
Sharon is now preparing to take to the stage again next weekend where she will battle to keep her place in the singing competition. Kildare residents can get behind Sharon’s bid for stardom by text voting for her on 53125 or watching the show this Sunday for phone details.
